This playlist isn’t just a random mix — it’s the soundtrack that built me. Every artist on here shaped the way I write, sing, and play today.
From Zac Brown Band’s down-home “Chicken Fried” to Jimi Hendrix’s fire-breathing guitar, to the pure country heart of The Judds, Vince Gill, Keith Whitley, George Strait, and Toby Keith — you can hear pieces of my own sound in every track.
I’ll never forget being too young to even get into the bar, and the band 3rd Degree would sneak me in so I could jam on “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” That was my first taste of the stage — and I’ve been chasing it ever since.
The southern rock anthems of Boston, The Doobie Brothers, Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Seger, and John Mellencamp gave me the big melodies and grit. Creedence Clearwater Revival showed me music could be swampy, soulful, and unstoppable.
Country heroes like Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, Alabama, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, David Allan Coe, Hank Williams Jr., and Hank III shaped the way I tell stories in my songs.
The blues side of me comes straight from B.B. King, Muddy Waters, and John Lee Hooker — proof that one note can say more than a paragraph.
And then there’s the fun and soul: Shania Twain, Little Big Town, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Ray Stevens, Jerry Reed, Billy Currington, Aaron Tippin, Cam, and even the Blues Brothers — all teaching me music can make you laugh, cry, and dance in the same breath.
Every one of these songs has left fingerprints on my own music — the outlaw edge of Hank III, the heart of George Strait, the anthems of Toby Keith, and the humor of Ray Stevens.
